Nebraska Athletic Director Says "No Thanks" to Budweiser

So, Bud Light is promoting a cheesy, ridiculous and awesome Tailgating Kit, including cans that bear your favorite team's colors.

Well, Tom Osborne of Nebraska said "thanks, but no thanks." How? You ask. Well, he's old, he wrote a letter. Long story short, he encouraged local distributors not to carry the the Red and White cans. Here's an excerpt from the Omaha World Herald:

Osborne said the NCAA Board of Directors has taken a negative stance on the promotion and that he, as athletic director, agrees with that position. Known for his opposition to alcohol-related ads in college sports, Osborne noted that his letter had prompted several local distributors not to participate in the promotion, turning away a “majority” of the red and white cans.

I don't get it. People drink before, durin, and after games. I guess alcohol is sold during the games? So what's the big deal about red and white cans? Just donate the proceeds to charity.

This is rampant in Tennessee and there are orange boxes and bottles everywhere during football season. It is so redneck since the orange closely resembles the color of a hunting vest.

On another note, a new guy at work in the cube next to me is a huge Alabama fan. I can't take this. It's like red with poop on it, right j-rod?

Back to the subject at hand; T.O. has no business telling Bud what color it can make it's products. That is ridiculous and certainly not capitolism at work. I say let the distributors charch a premium for the things and run it like a charity for the university or some other cause.

In still other unrelated news, beer will be sold this season at University of Memphis football games in the Liberty Bowl to help increase revenues. Just a hint T.O.

That's it for now from the dirrty souf.
